Work on two major highway projects in Metro Halifax is on schedule and on budget.
Crews continue the task of rebuilding the Fairview overpass and constructing the Larry Uteck interchange on the Bi-Hi.
The work has meant some traffic delays for rush hour motorists, but nowhere near the logjams many were predicting when work started.
Patricia Jreige with the Transportation Department says everything’s still on schedule at the Fairview overpass.
“They’re laying down the piers and the pillars for the new part of the
overpass,” she said. “We’re still on track to be finished towards the end of March.”
She says the work is still on budget at $9.2 million.
Likewise, work is progressing at the Larry Uteck Interchange on the 102.
Steve Smith of the Transportation Department says it may even be finished ahead of schedule.
“Perhaps by the end of August or mid-August,” he said “It’s weather dependent our work, so if thing’s hold up then we’ll be fine.”
That project carries a price tag of nearly $22 million.
