No bail for Jimmy Melvin Jr. on latest charges

A notorious Halifax-area criminal has been denied bail on charges of kidnapping and extortion.

Jimmy Melvin Jr. appeared in court yesterday, accused of attacking a man in Highfield Park last week.

Police say Melvin and two other men were trying to get information from the victim, but wouldn’t say what.

Melvin was released from jail on January 15th.

On top of the charges related to last week’s alleged assault, Melvin is also facing five charges related to an altercation with police while in custody.
