Hillsborough tackles coyote problem head-on

MONCTON, NB – An expert has been hired to rid Hillsborough of some unwanted visitors.
Mayor Donna Bennett says coyotes are not uncommon in the area but this winter they’ve been getting a little too close for comfort.
Bennett says there have been a couple of incidents involving coyotes and people’s pets and in one case a dog was killed.
She says council decided that to hire a trapper would be a proactive move given recent coyote attacks on humans in the Richibucto area and in Cape Breton.
Bennett says the nuisance officer, which will use both traps and a .22 rifle, has already bagged one animal.
