Premier says legislation to reform MLA spending on its way

The premier is promising legislation will be introduced in the upcoming Spring session of the Nova Scotia legislature to reform how MLA’s expenses are handled.
“We’re moving forward with that legislation as expeditiously as possible,” said Premier Darrell Dexter on a conference call from Washington. “In the meanwhile we’re looking for earlier answers to the concerns that have been expressed.”
The premier made the commitment while speaking to reporters from Washington DC where he’s been meeting with state governors, officials from the Obama administration and others about energy.
He was reluctant to commit to posting expenses online, something the Liberals are pushing for.
Dexter also says he’s had a series of successful meetings in Washington, where he says there’s a lot of interest in our Fundy Tidal power project.
“Secure energy from potential tidal solutions is something they’re very much interested in,” said Dexter.
He says these meetings were an ideal opportunity to promote Nova Scotia’s renewable energy sources.
