Two brothers accused of placing a burning cross on an interracial couple’s home last week are facing an additional charge.
Nathan Neil Rehberg, 20, and 19-year-old Justin Chad Rehberg are each facing an additional charge of criminal harassment.
They already face charges of public incitement of hatred, uttering threats and mischief.
The victim, Shayne Howe, says the charges aren’t enough.
“They’re not looking at it the way I’m looking at it, and that’s what’s bothering me the most,” says Howe. “There’s nothing in the book for this. There’s no crime, no justice for a cross being put on the front lawn.”
The interracial couple woke up February 21 to a seven-foot cross burning in their front lawn, as suspects yelled racial slurs.
The brothers will be back in court Tuesday for a bail hearing.
