Military policeman facing charges after assault

A Halifax military police officer is facing a charge of aggravated assault after a fight in downtown Halifax on the weekend.

Christopher Michael Vining, 23, has been released with an order to appear in court  at a later date.

Two men got into a fight at Pizza Corner early Sunday morning. One of the men was hit during the fight, fell down and struck his head on the pavement.

He was rushed to hospital with serious head injuries.

Police don’t think the men knew each other.
