Bail granted to brothers in cross burning case

Bail has been granted for the two brothers accused of burning a cross on an interracial couple’s lane in Hants County.
Nathan Neil Rehberg, 20, and 19-year-old Justin Chad Rehberg were released from custody Tuesday into the supervision of their retired grandparents.
On the stand, grandmother Marianne Boutilier said Nathan and Justin are good kids.
The judge says the accused have the right to be released and is satisfied with the conditions brought forth by the defence.
Victim Michelle Lyon said her family is going to be living in fear.
“Back to keeping watch, back to taking turns, back to making sure,” says Lyon.
“Now that they’re out, it’s possible they can make phone calls, so nobody is going to sleep well.”
Conditions require the accused to observe a 9 p.m. to 6 a.m. curfew, keep the peace, be of good behaviour and not have any contact with the victims. The accused are charged with criminal harassment, public incitement of hatred, uttering threats and mischief.
