IEB set for first-ever public meeting on MLA expenses

The secretive committee that has set MLA salaries and expenses for decades will meet in public for the first time today.

It’s also probably the last time the Internal Economy Board will meet.

The Dexter government will table legislation this spring to replace the board with an open commission.

It’s one of several measures being taken to improve transparency in the wake of the MLA spending scandal.

The board will set a deadline for MLA’s to post all expenses online and will also get an interim report from former speaker Art Donahoe.

He’ll suggest other ways to improve the system.
