E-mail scam claims to help victims of e-mail scam

An e-mail making the rounds in Metro this morning claims to help people who’ve fallen for the Nigerian e-mail scam.

The author claims to be from the “Anti Scam Refund Department” and writes, “if you have fallen for Nigerian Scams, do not hesitate to contact us for more details on how we can help.”

The writer then goes on to say that establishing you were actually scammed by a Nigerian, they require proof from your money transfer or credit cards.

Phishing for personal info on the internet is one of the most common methods of identity theft.

Watchdog groups like Phonebusters say the best way to deal with e-mails like these, whether you’ve already been scammed by a Nigerian or not, is to report them, then hit delete.
