Charges laid in N.B. missing woman case

A 62-year-old man facing six charges related to the month-long disappearance of a New Brunswick woman made a brief court appearance Thursday.
Romeo Jacques Cormier was arrested just hours after the woman was discovered Wednesday afternoon.
Cormier faces charges of kidnapping, unlawful confinement, assault with a weapon, sexual assault, uttering death threats and theft.
A Moncton judge placed a publication ban on anything that could identify the alleged victim. The judge says the ban is to prevent the further victimization of the woman.
Police say the woman was held in a basement apartment not far from the mall where she was last seen in late February. She somehow escaped and flagged down a passing driver.
She was taken to hospital to be examined, and was reunited with family Wednesday night.
Cormier is ordered to have no contact with the woman, and will be remanded until his next court appearance April 12.
