RCMP officer charged with drunk driving

An off-duty RCMP officer in Lunenburg County is accused of driving drunk.

Police say they got a call Easter Sunday about a car that had gone off the road by Risser’s Beach.

“Prior to the police arrival at the scene the vehicle was actually pulled out of the ditch and the driver had departed the area,” says RCMP Sgt. Brigdit Legere.

The car and the driver were both found later in Conquerall Bank, which is just south of Bridgewater.

Cst. Catherine Mansley is charged with impaired driving. She was acquitted of a charge of  having care of her car when her blood alcohol was above the limit, but was acquitted because he was convinced she did not intend to drive her car that night.

Mansley was reportedly on desk duty following the acquittal, while awaiting an internal review of her status.
