Gun-toting beer-drinker leads police on chase

Police were taken on a bizarre chase in Halifax’s downtown after police spotted a man carrying an open beer Wednesday afternoon.
Just after 2:30 p.m. beat officers in Uniacke Square tried to stop a man who was walking around with an open beer.
The man ran from police and they found him hiding among some parked cars. He then tried to run away again, however after a bit of a scuffle police managed to arrest him.
Police found a handgun nearby and after a search of the man they also found some hash.
Joseph Endelle Chan, 28, of Halifax is scheduled to appear in court Thursday on drug possession, weapons related offenses, and resisting arrest.
