The volcanic ash cloud is throwing a wrench into a Halifax woman’s vacation plans as her two-week tour if Europe is threatened by airspace restrictions.
Catherine Clarke and a friend have been planning this trip for months. They are to start in London and tour cities around the continent finishing in Paris.
“We wanted to go all out,” says Clarke. “It’s a two week tour and it’s a really nice one. It’s not a cheapy tour.”
The two are supposed to leave Friday and until then there’s a lot of stress about the unknown.
“We’re calling each other a lot and having our little bitch sessions,” says Clarke. “But we’re basically on the internet all the time checking for updates.”
Flights to Europe are gradually resuming but Heathrow is still off-limits.
