Iceland’s volcanic eruptions have forced the cancellation of a royal visit to Nova Scotia.
“We’ve been planning for months for this visit and a palpable excitement in the air,” says Lt.-Col. Anne Espenant, commanding officer of the Canadian Forces Health Services Centre at Stadacona. “Obviously beyond our control but quite disappointing.”
Princess Anne was scheduled to spend Wednesday and Thursday in the province to mark the 50th anniversary of Canada’s military medical services, of which the princess is its Colonel-in-Chief.
Espenant says the Canadian Forces Surgeon General has now extended an invitation to the princess to visit next year.
