Charges expected soon in hit-and-run case

Charges are expected in relation to a hit and run crash in Dartmouth earlier this month.
Rachel McCabe and two friends were heading home early in the morning of April 10 when the Toyota Corolla they were in was hit head-on by a Chev Silverado at Braemar and Braeside in Dartmouth.
“We were all trapped in the car,” says McCabe. “Someone said help was on its way so we just waited for the ambulance to come and they cut all three of us out of the car.”
McCabe and her boyfriend’s two brothers were badly hurt. She has broken bones in her ankle, leg, wrists and back.
The driver of the Silverado ran from the scene and, through a lawyer, police found out he contacted family members. He has not been arrested.
“It is a criminal code investigation and we are taking it very seriously and it’s not something we want to rush,” says Palmeter. “We want to make sure we have everything in order before we proceed with laying any charges.”
However, Palmeter stresses the man will be charged and soon. McCabe is still in hospital and admits she’s a little angry.
“It really sucks, I’m not going to be able to do anything this summer,” she says.
