RCMP in Nova Scotia will not be laying charges against the former bishop of Antigonish.
Last fall police seized laptops an other electronic devices from Raymond Lahey’s home in Antigonish and an apartment in Sydney. The bishop was arrested on child pornography charges after a search of a laptop at Ottawa International Airport.
RCMP Sgt Brigdet Legere says they completed an in-depth analysis of the items seized from his residences in the province and the investigation is now over.
“Based on the examination of those materials,” says Legere. “The investigation determined that there would be no criminal charges laid in Nova Scotia.”
Lahey faces child pornography charges in Ottawa and a civil lawsuit claiming sexual abuse launched by a former resident of the Mount Cashel orphanage in St. John’s.
