Diesel in harbour no threat: Environment Canada

Diesel fuel leaking from a sunken dry dock in the harbour has been cleaned up and officials say the spill has been plugged.

The Coast Guard spotted a small sheen of oil on Monday near the site of the sunken dock. It was believed to have come from a diesel generator that went down with the dock.

Environment Canada officials say the spill wasn’t big enough to cause any environmental damage.

Containment booms and absorbent material are being used to clean up the mess.

Irving, which owns the dock, says a plan is in place to refloat the dock as soon as possible.
