Young Dutch boy miraculously survives deadly plane crash in Libya

Libya’s transport minister says at least 96 people have died and a Dutch boy has survived the crash of a Libyan Afriqiyah Airways plane with 104 people on board.
Mohammed Ali Zaidan said 96 bodies have been recovered from the wreckage, where state television showed dozens of rescue workers and police still sifting through a large field of smouldering debris.
The Dutch prime minister says dozens of Dutch citizens were aboard the plane.
Jan Peter Balkenende has confirmed reports that the only known survivor is a Dutch boy, but he said he had no further details, including the boy’s age.
The Airbus 330 crashed while it was trying to land at the airport in the Libyan capital Tripoli following a nine-hour flight from Johannesburg, South Africa.
A statement by the airline on its website says there is no immediate word on the cause, but terrorism has been ruled out.
The plane’s black boxes have reportedly been recovered.
