McNeil ready to move on after leadership review

The leader of the Nova Scotia Liberals says the party can now move forward.

Stephen McNeil says he received a strong endorsement from party faithful over the weekend, with 83 per cent support from the 2400 votes cast.

McNeil says the strong mandate is gratifying and gives him a solid basis to continue leading the party and building relationships with voters.

“That’s been one of the challenges of our party for the last decade,” he said. “Each election, there’s been a new leader, each election has been a new time of trying to re-engage Nova Scotians to build a relationship.”

McNeil tells us the review and vote is required based on the party’s constitution, so he’s happy that it’s done and he can get back to business.

“I will be leading this party,” he said. “We’ll continue to hold the government to account, and we’ll continue to provide Nova Scotians with an alternative to the NDP government.”

He says there’s no time to relax as preparations need to be made to get the party  ready for two upcoming byelections.
