Tattoo will still be royal even without the Queen: organizers

The Royal Nova Scotia International Tattoo will have an extra dash of ‘royalty’ and an additional splash of ‘international’ this year.
The Queen of England won’t be part of the show – as originally planned. But as artistic director Ian Fraser explains the audience will still be treated to all the pomp and circumstance planned for Her Majesty’s attendance including royally commissioned music.
“She’s coming to Nova Scotia so let’s try to do something for her,” says Fraser. “That could be significant and the people who attend the show and the people who attend the show will then be able to at least get a sense of what would’ve happened had she been here.”
While the Queen is opting out the rest of the world will e tuning in via France Television, which will be broadcasting the event in 20 countries.
“It is a big deal and of course it’s also showing in Australia as well through the Ovation channel,” says Fraser. “So we’re getting a lot of international coverage.”
This will be the first time a production company from France will be broadcasting the Tattoo.
