The city’s first curb side giveaway is a go!
HRM staff are encouraging residents to put any unwanted, but reusable, household items on the curb on the weekend of June 5 and 6.
Shannon Betts with the city’s Solid Waste Resources department tells Metro you should put a sign on your stuff saying it’s free so people know they can take it.
The giveaways can be left on the curb all weekend. After that, Betts says it’s hoped residents will donate the leftovers to charity.
The goal is to divert some of the stuff from landfills.
Betts says examples of giveaways include books, furniture, appliances, sports equipment, patio chairs and clothing.
