Mayor Kelly getting ready to don his swimming trunks

Get out your speedos because Mayor Peter Kelly is extending the invitation for a swim in Halifax Harbour this summer.
Mayor says they’re now testing the downtown sewage plant, to see if repairs worked after the flooding fiasco nearly a year and a half ago.
Kelly told News 95.7’s Maritime Morning Wednesday he hopes the plant will be fully up to speed very soon.
“Which will mean that this body of water will be more able to be used recreationally and you’ll be able to go back in an swim,” says Kelly.
The mayor says he’s planning on taking a dip this summer if all goes well, hopefully around natal day.
The repairs to the downtown plant have taken awhile and cost about $11 million dollars.
“And our expectations that all those or most of those costs will be picked up by the insurance company,” says Kelly.
The plant has been taking in potable water soon, they’ll try introducing sewage.
