Halifax welcomes the Apple iPad

The Apple iPad went on sale at 9 a.m. and lineups outside of Halifax stores started much earlier than that.

Customer started lining up around 6 a.m. outside of the Halifax Mac Store on Barrington Street.

“Absolutely no question, a very well organized, well mannered, smooth and very excited to come in and get this new product,” says the store’s owner Chris Duffie.

Seif arrived around 8 a.m. and says he had to get an iPad today.

“I have an iPhone, a MacBook Pro and an iPod, all Mac products,” he says.

The tablet computers start at $549 and go up to $879. The iPad is also being launched today in Australia, Japan and much of Europe.

It’s already been available in the United States for about eight weeks and has sold more than a million units.
