Woman startled when renovators find bones in kitchen

Workers doing some home renovations in Spryfield got a bit of a shock after ripping out the kitchen cabinets — a pile of bones.
The discovery was made in a townhouse on Greystone Drive. Judy Rhyno lives in the home and was there when the workers found the pile of bones.
“There’s one vertebrae that looks like it came from the top of the rib, probably about as thin as my baby finger,” says Rhyno. “There’s another peice that’s a little bigger that’s really corroded, you can see the porous material in the bone, and then there’s a couple that look like it’s toward the tailbone.
Police took the bones to the medical examiner to determine if they were human or animal. Rhyno was worried they might be those of a baby. So she was relieved when Police Cst. Brian Palmeter broke the news it wasn’t human.
However Palmeter can’t say what type of animal it was.
“At this time we aren’t sure what animal they belong to, but the medical examiner has assured us that they aren’t human,” says Palmeter.
Palmeter says the case was ‘unusual’.
The all-clear was given and Rhyno and the workers were allowed to continue with the work.
