Sources say Jamie Baillie will announce his candidacy for the leadership of the Progressive Conservative Party of Nova Scotia on Monday.
Well known in Tory circles, Baillie is a former chief of staff to former premier John Hamm and is currently president of Credit Union Atlantic.
A news release has been issued confirming that Baillie will make his intentions known on Monday.
But two party sources say Baillie will announce he is running for the leadership, which became vacant when former premier Rodney MacDonald resigned after last spring’s election defeat.
To date no one else has signalled an intention to enter the race. Interim leader Karen Casey and former cabinet minister Chris d’Entremont had considered running for the leadership but ruled themselves out in February.
