Councillor sees no sense in Herring Cove Rd traffic plan

At least one city councillor says he sees no sense in the latest traffic plan from city staff.
There is a proposal by the city to narrow part of Herring Cove Rd. from four-lanes down to only two. It would affect the stretch of road between Dentith Rd. and Old Sambro Rd and would replace current traffic lanes with bicycle lanes.
Area councillor Steve Adams tells News 95.7 it doesn’t make any sense.
“Not to me,” he says. “Especially in an area that’s growing with some more development coming. All of the businesses are quite nervous about the proposal and the thought of this.”
Adams insists the neighborhood is not against bike lanes, but doesn’t want to see traffic affected. The city proposal suggests there is not enough room to keep all four vehicle lanes and add the two for bikes.
The opposition comes just one day after a public meeting in North End Halifax where the majority of residents strongly opposed the building of a roundabout in their neighbourhood.
