Doctors Nova Scotia wants the province to ban minors from using tanning beds.
The CBC reports the association passed the resolution at its annual general meeting on Saturday.
President Jane Brooks says tanning beds are dangerous, particularly to youngsters, who may not be making informed choices about using the beds.
She notes similar bans are already in place in many European countries and some American states. She adds Health Canada says kids shouldn’t use tanning beds because of the risk of skin cancer.
Doctors Nova Scotia plans to meet with the health minister about the issue as soon as possible.
