Assault at Springhill Institution injures three employees: CSC

Staff members have been injured after an assault at a Nova Scotia prison.

According to Correctional Service Canada, the assault of three employees occurred on Sunday at Springhill Institution, a medium security federal prison.

Few details have been released, but CSC says the suspect was identified and “appropriate actions will be taken.”

The injured employees were sent to hospital to receive treatment.

In a release, CSC says it “will review the circumstances that led to it and take additional measures as necessary.”

Springhill RCMP and Springhill Institution says they are currently investigating the incident but cannot comment further on the matter.
