Racist allegations raised in Ken Fells controversy

There are now racist allegations being made in the controversy over principal Ken Fells.
The Black Educators Association held a public meeting last night to demand Fells be returned to his old job at Graham Creighton Jr. High.
Delvina Bernard of the Council for African-Canadian Education tells CTV Fells was a good fit at the school.
“Mr. Fells stands on principle, around discipline, around anti-bullying, around positive school envrionment, around diversity, he stands for those things,” she said. “At times when you voice those kinds of things you might not be the most popular person in the world, but you certianly are the person who is trying to do something good for children.”
Attendees at the meeting wanted to know why Fells, who is black, was removed from his position while school board superintendant Carole Olson, who is white, wasn’t – despite the fact her husband leaked a school video to the media.
The video showed Fells’ encounter with a student, which led to his removal from Graham Creighton.
Several speakers at the meeting said that a black man or woman in Olsen’s position would likely have been removed.
