The Province has nixed the idea of spraying a Bedford’s Admiral Cove Park to get rid of ticks that carry Lyme disease.
Health Minister Maureen MacDonald says she’s not opposed to controlling blacklegged ticks, but science doesn’t support the spray proposal.
She says a plan by the city to spray areas of the park could have exposed more people to the ticks by giving them a false sense of security.
Several residents and pets in Bedford have been diagnosed with Lyme disease in recent years.
Lyme disease is an inflammatory condition that produces flu-like symptoms and joint pain.
