Royal Visit road closures for today

The Queen’s visit will mean some road closures in HRM for the next couple of days.

From 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. today, Sackville Street will be closed to vehicles from Brunswick Street to Bell Road. The sidewalk will be closed from Brunswick to South Park Street.

Also at 10 a.m, Bell Road will be closed to vehicles from South Park to Summer Street and the sidewalk will be closed on the Garrison Grounds side from South Park to Ahern Street.

Bell Road re-opens at 5:30 p.m.

Motorists should also expect some delays for motorcades during the day, as well as restrictions on both bridges.

Anyone planning to attend the official welcome to Canada at the Garrison Grounds, which begins at 3 p.m., should plan to get there early. The Grounds can be accessed by Ahern, Brunswick and Cogswell streets, walking across Citadel Hill.

No one will be allowed to cross Sackville Street between Brunswick and South Park Streets to access the Garrison Grounds.

Parking will be limited, but persons with disabilities and persons who are deaf or hard of hearing can be dropped off at the intersection of Bell and Summer streets.

Police are encouraging anyone planning to attend public events to rely on Metro Transit. A list of enhanced transit services can be found on the Metro Transit website.
