Two year inspection plan could prove costly for drivers

Nova Scotia’s change to a two year vehicle inspection process has resulted in a few quiet months for mechanics.
Garage owners say business was slower this spring because we’re one year into the two year system.
Blake Samson runs K&B Auto Works on the Bedford Highway.
“We’ve noticed a bit of a difference here,” he said. “Talking to some of the other garages around they’ve noticed a considerable amount of difference.”
While drivers may be saving the inspection fee for one year, Samson says it may end up costing more in the end.
“Next year it’s going to come back,” he said. “Everybody will be due for their two-year inspection, and I believe people are going to be in for a big surprise when they come up for their two year inspection.”
Samson says the roads in the province are hard on vehicles and some drivers are bringing their vehicles in at least to have them checked to make sure they’re safe.
