Queen Elizabeth II departs Nova Scotia

The whirlwind tour of Nova Scotia by the Queen and Prince Phillip has come to an end.
After a short ceremony at Government House, the royal couple headed to Halifax Stanfield International Airport for a flight to the nation’s capital.
A tree planting was the final event in Nova Scotia for the Queen and Prince. An oak tree was planted on the lawn of Government House where the royal couple stayed while here.
Then it was into the limos and off to the airport for the trip to Ottawa and, as has been the case over the past couple of days, royal watchers were thrilled to get a glimpse of the Queen.
“I’m speechless. I came all the way from Ontario; I didn’t know she was going to be here.” said one woman who turned out to see the royals. “It was amazing, just amazing,”
“It was absolutely wonderful to see the Queen,” said another woman in attendance.
“She looked beautiful.”
Mayor Peter Kelly was at the airport to see the Queen and Prince off he says she spoke highly of Halifax.
“We just had a chance to say goodbye to Her Majesty and welcomed her back any time,” said the mayor. “She thought it was great and she thoroughly enjoyed the trip.”
The royal couple will take part in tomorrow’s Canada Day celebrations in Ottawa.
