Government accepting potential designs for Evergreen Line

VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) – Another sign the on-again, off-again Evergreen Line is on again. The provincial government is calling on companies to put forward design concepts for the TransLink project.
It’s not quite clear how the 11 kilometre line will be paid for. But that’s not stopping the B.C. Ministry of Transportation from reportedly seeking firms to pass along their proposals. That’s according to a report in The Province newspaper.
Many questions still linger about the system, which would use SkyTrain technology to connect Coquitlam to Vancouver via Port Moody and Burnaby.
A recent City of Burnaby staff report points out construction has been delayed yet again to early 2011. It was supposed to start in the fourth quarter of this year, putting the current target date of completion of 2014 somewhat in doubt.
