Live with Regis and Kelly puts the Maritimes on the map

CHARLOTTETOWN, PEI–About 8 thousand fans took in two shows in Prince Edward Island yesterday.  Another two shows are planned for today.

The province spent 800-thousand dollars to help bring the show to Charlottetown and the Atlantic Canada Opportunities Agency contributed 200-thousand dollars.

PEI Marketing Director Brenda Gallant says this is money well spent because of the exposure the Island is getting.

When Regis Philbin and Kelly Ripa hit the airwaves yesterday, they couldn’t stop talking about all of the things that PEI has to offer.

As a result, Prince Edward Island was one of Google’s hottest searches yesterday, as American web surfers went searching for information on the tiny province.
