Pride Week on the way to Halifax

Next week will see Halifax’s annual pride parade winding its way through the city streets.
That’s just one aspect of a week long event that now has a budget of 250,000 dollars.
Co-chair Ed Savage says despite the acceptance in some aspects of society, it’s important to keep educating the community.
“Yeah sure they have gay marriage. They have same sex partner rights, but there are a lot of people who still face discrimination every day in workplaces,” he said. “There are aspects of our community that aren’t even allowed to be who they want to be at work.”
This year’s Pride Week theme is “free to be”.
