June hottest month on record across globe

TORONTO, Ont. – We continue to battle heat and humidity at home this month, but June broke the record for being the warmest month in recorded history across the globe.

Forecasters said the average global temperature last month was 16.2 C – more than two thirds of a degree above average for June.

They added that the average global temperature for the first half of 2010 was 12.2 C.

The figure is the warmest ever on record for the first six months of any year.
