Councillor pushing for changes in private meetings

One regional councillor says she has concerns about what happens in closed-door meetings, and will try to make changes today.

Sue Uteck plans to bring a motion to tonight’s council meeting that would end secret ballots and require HRM’s lawyers to be present for any in-camera discussions.

She tells Metro there have been some in-camera meetings lately where she feels the municipality has been put “at risk.”

Fellow councillor Linda Mosher calls Uteck’s motion “political grandstanding.”
