The harbour beaches are open again.
The city announced yesterday afternoon the water is safe for swimming, just in time for a hot, sunny weekend.
The Black Rock and Dingle beaches were shut down last week because bacterial levels rose above safe levels in the wake of heavy rains.
In heavy rains, water flow is too much for the new sewage treatment plant to handle on top of regular effluent, which means raw sewage, gets spilled into the harbour.
The beaches can’t be reopened until fecal coliform levels test below acceptable levels for three days in a row.
