A plan to make big “bucks” by selling a little fawn on Kijiji has backfired on a couple of Halifax County men.
The pair are facing fines of up to $2000 for breaking certain laws prohibiting the purchase and sale of wild animals.
Their asking price for “Bella” was $300.
Dan Davis with the Department of Natural Resources tells CTV provincial officials rescued the animal by setting up a sting operation.
“They contacted the person who was selling it and made an arrangement to meet and take possession of the deer,” he said.
Bella will stay with the Hope for Wildlife Society in Seaforth.
When she’s been rehabilitated and hunting season ends, she’ll be released back into the wild.
