Highway 104 is now open again after a head-on collision that killed two people and closed a part of the road overnight.
The crash happened Wednesday afternoon near Kenzieville when a pickup truck crashed into an oil tanker, killing both drivers and setting the oil in the tanker on fire.
Witnesses said the pickup truck was weaving around and appeared to cross the centre line before the crash.
Firefighters monitored the burning oil, but wouldn’t use water or flame retardants to extinguish the flames because of concerns about the runoff into the nearby Barney’s River.
The highway was closed from exit 27 to 29 until early this morning, but has now been re-opened.
There was a third fatal crash on the 104 on Wednesday, which occurred near Monastery. No details or names have been released.
