Bedbugs bedding down in Halifax

Pest control companies around Metro say it’s a growing problem.
Bedbugs are making a resurgence and it’s a problem that will likely get worse with students heading back to school.
Dave Holland with Braemar Pest Control says they get three or four calls a day from people who want their bedbug problem dealt with.
And with university students getting settled in and looking for used furniture, he says there’s a chance the problem will continue to spread.
“That’s how these guys get around, they travel on furniture,” he said. “People might not even know that they have it. They just put [furniture] on the side of the road, kids grab the stuff, and let the games begin.”
He’s suggesting you take a pass on the items along the curbside and check out used furniture very carefully before carting it home.
