Transit still waiting for GPS in buses

GPS trackers for Metro Transit buses are apparently in “final testing” but it’s still not clear when they’ll actually be installed.

Transit announced the new system to replace the GOtime service in 2007, and it was expected to be operational that fall.

Nearly three years later, a Metro Transit spokesperson says there’s no specific date set for a launch.

Lori Patterson tells Metro Halifax the project will be “re-launched” once units are running on all the buses.

She said the GPS system appears to be on pace to be ready sometime this fall.
