Another fatal crash on the 104

There’s been another fatal crash on Highway 104.  Police say it happened Tuesday night and involved four young people from the HRM.

Two young women and two young men were heading to Ontario on a trip.  RCMP Sgt. Al Afleck says the trouble started just ahead of the Debert off-ramp.

“When the female driver, for some reason, hit the rumble strip on the right hand side she over-steered,” he says. “[That caused] the vehicle to spin out of control into the ditch.  When it hit the ditch, it rolled several times.”

The two back seat passengers were not wearing seatbelts and were thrown from the car.  A 20 year-old Prospect Bay woman died late Tuesday night in hospital.  A 20 year-old man from Halifax has serious injuries.

The woman driver and a front seat, male passenger both had seat belts on and suffered only minor injuries.

The driver was newly licensed.
