Man unresponsive in police custody

Police say a man in police custody is now in hospital in critical condition after being found unconscious and unresponsive in a police holding cell.
Constable Brian Palmeter tells News95.7, the man was arrested Tuesday afternoon and was taken to hospital for an undisclosed and previously existing ‘medical concern.’
The man was released back into police custody around 6:38pm. He was found unconscious around 2:35 Wednesday morning during a regular cell check.
Palmeter says the man was taken to hospital in life-threatening condition, adding it doesn’t seem suspicious at this point.
An investigation is underway.
