Dalhousie student facing charges after building trashed

A 19 year-old Dalhousie Student is in custody following a break-in at the school’s administration building.
Halifax Regional Police Sgt. Gordon Graham says security officers contacted police around 11:30 Tuesday night to report the break-in.
“Dalhousie security had located a break and enter into the building and they believed the suspect was still inside,” he said. “They covered off all the exits from the building until the police arrived on scene.”
Graham says the suspect had gained entry by smashing the window in a ground-floor door. He says officers caught up with him on the building’s top floor.
“When he got up to the top floor he smashed open several more door windows and emptied the fire extinguishers all over the top floor,” he said. “He ripped the fire alarms from the wall and then piled furniture in the elevator.”
The man, who police suspect was intoxicated, is in custody facing charges of break-enter and property damage.
