A car accident has claimed the life of an American tourist on her way to visit Peggy’s Cove. The accident happened just after three o’clock Saturday afternoon on Highway 333 in Indian Harbour. The car failed to negotiate a turn and ended up crashing down an embankment about two kilometers north of Peggy’s Cove.
RCMP tell the Chronicle Herald the 62-year old woman was thrown from the vehicle and was pronounced dead at the scene. An Emergency Health Services spokesperson tells the paper there were three other people in the vehicle who were taken to hospital. Their injuries are considered non life-threatening.
Police say at this point, they don’t think alcohol or speed played a factor in the single-vehicle crash. The woman’s name and hometown have not been made public.
