Second arrest in gang rape case

PITT MEADOWS (NEWS1130) – There has been a second arrest in a suspected gang rape at a Pitt Meadows rave last weekend. Sex assault charges are now being considered against a 18-year-old man.

Ridge Meadows RCMP Inspector Derren Lench says the girl was sexually assaulted Friday night, but police did not find out about it until Tuesday. He claims the act was not consensual. “Evidence that we’ve collected says she was not a willing participant, and it’s also our belief that she was drugged by a date rape drug.”

He says she was taken out to a field where several men and boys took advantage of her. “Others were watching, and that is so disturbing in itself. They need to understand that this wasn’t consensual and by no means is it something she condoned. It’s something they need to understand the seriousness of, as well as the seriousness of distributing those photographs.”

Charges are already being contemplated against a 16-year-old who apparently took photos of the attack and uploaded them to Facebook. But Lench says they still have lots of eyewitnesses to question and lots of evidence to go through before any charges can be laid.
