Record setting temperatures expected to last through the week

Halifax has been breaking temperature records this week and the trend is expected to continue for at least the next month.
Wednesday, the records for both the daytime high and the nighttime low were broken. Typical lows at this time of year are around 6 degrees. Last night, the temperature bottomed out at 17 degrees.
Meteorologist Richard Zurawski says three factors are contributing to the trend.
“Number one is the fact that the hurricanes have created this southerly flow,” he syas “and it seems to be following this southerly flow of very very warm air over the Maritimes.”
The other factors are the warmer ocean waters and a low pressure centre that is sucking things up from the Atlantic Canada region.
These warmer than normal conditions are expected to continue for another month or so.
