VPD launch program to help protect women on DTES

VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) – Vancouver Police have launched ‘The Guardian Project’ and say crime stats do not reflect the dangers women face in the Downtown Eastside. Their project will include regular town hall meetings, a tip line and a $10,000 reward for information.

Constable Jana McGuinness says the reward money is being offered for anyone who knows anything about the death of Ashley Machiskinic. Machiskinic fell from a window in the Regent Hotel, in the Downtown Eastside on September 15. Many say she was pushed out, perhaps over a drug debt.
